It has been a very busy October for me setting up this year’s display!
Setup started promptly on October 1st, staring off with me installing 6 of our 9 elevated display items – the snowflakes on 2 towers; the swinging bells, transforming cross/peace sign motif, the Merry Christmas sign, and the shooting star on trees; as well as placing the large ornaments on the evergreen trees.
I decided to install the 2 most time consuming display centerpieces first – the 18 foot pixel tree:
followed by the new (2024) mega pixel tree supported by its 24 foot pipe:
Each of those took most of a day to install.
The life-sized nativity, Santa’s workshop, and Brue the spruce trailers were moved out next. I still have to get the elf house and Cricket/Corky house rolled out into the display area.
That was followed with pounding in many dozen rebar and hanging hooks, which I still have a little more to do, followed by laying out several thousand feet of wiring, which I am about half done with at this point.
Interior on the rainy days I have been updating some of the display items that needed new lighting and/or wiring. Additionally, I have used that time to create 4 new house projection scenes, and in addition to the 4 new songs the display is sequenced to, I have upgraded some of the older songs (I have 48 in total now) with new effects using our newly added pixel display items.
So far, I have 3 full weeks into this year’s setup, and if all goes well, I should have it ready to go in another 3 weeks.
I am excited for this year’s display, as it will be the best that we have ever had!
